Here's what the humans have to say about me:
Hi, my name is Nelson, and what a handsome boy I am!
As you can see I have beautiful big brown eyes and a very soft, black shiny coat. I came to the rescue via a city pound, where I had been in a pen for the majority of the three months that I was there. I am around four or five years old and weighs in around 58lbs.
My foster mum says that I am for sure one of the most loveable and happy dogs she has ever had the privilege of fostering. I have a very sweet disposition and am full of fun and energy. My tail never stops wagging!
I am housetrained and walk very well on the gentle leader, though lots of the time I get to run off leash with my foster brothers and sister and even though I have only had my new name for a month, I come when am called and I never go out of earshot.
I am not a big fan of the crate, as I spent so much time in one for so long that I get anxious, and even though I will go in I get a little panicky and so would prefer not to be crated.
As I am housetrained, I have the run of the home with the older dog when my foster parents go out and I sleep in the living room at night. I love other dogs and have great fun at the dog park as well as with the four other dogs I live with, playing for hours with the younger one. I have never shown any aggression toward other dogs but will stand my ground if challenged.
I don’t think am overly fond of cats, though the one here is very old and runs away so I get excited and chase her although I shows no aggression, I can get quite vocal, but perhaps a younger cat that won’t put up with my shenanigans could most likely put me in my place.
I will go in the car but I tend to get quite car sick and so I need to have some gravol an hour before we go anywhere.
I am learning to like the water as I live by the river and though my foster siblings are always jumping and swimming I like to walk through the shallow part but am getting braver every day!
I am not a greedy dog and will sit and wait for my food eating steadily and without rushing, though I do drink a lot of water and love treats and peanut butter kongs. I have a very gentle mouth and will let you lift my bowl or remove things from my mouth willingly.
Although I have only been with my foster family for a month, I am already one of the family and they tell me that it’s going to be very hard to let me go.
I will do well in a home with or without other dogs and can’t wait to meet my new forever family who are going to nurture and care for me like my foster mum says I deserve.
