My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Bio Update 06/09/14: Here is what Toby has to say : Foster mom does not understand why I have not been adopted. I am very well behaved, I really love my person and try very hard to please her. She discovered I am not just a mix, but a designer dog! I am a Morkie, a mix between a Maltese and Yorkie. I have the best of both, being non shedding, so good for people with allergies, and the sweet playful personality of a Maltese. I do not have a Yorkie body, as my legs are much longer. I have never met a person I did not like. I am great with children and babies. I loved having Moms nephew Keenan, who is 1 year and 3 months, pet me. I am very gentle with children. And if they can throw my ball, even better! Mom had visitors from Denmark last month, and they fell in love with me. In fact, everyone who meets me falls in love! But if you have your heart set on a pure Yorkie, Foster Mom says I am not your dog. But if you want a devoted friend, I would be that dog.
Updaate 04/14/14 : Toby is a good little boy. He is wondering why he has not been adopted. It is true he does not have the typical Yorkie body, but he is still cute as can be, and Mr. Personality plus. He will play ball as long as you will throw it. He is great with kids. He gets along with other dogs, as long as they are not dominant. And he minds his Foster Mom, so that is a plus.

Update 12/27/13: Toby has learned very quickly how to be a family member. He is just about perfect with his potty, using the doggie door. He is still possessive of his toys, and so must be monitored when he has toys, when around other dogs. My littlest yorkie, Peanut, has decided they are "besties." It is really cute to watch them play together.

Toby is a Yorkie mix. He is smart, and he minds. His worst habit is the deep bark, especially when the doorbell rings or when he hears one on the tv. But I keep a soda can with pennies in it, and rattle it. Toby hates that, and he quiets immediately. I still put him in the xpen if I have to leave, because he demonstrated some separation anxiety.

With all this being said, he is Mr. Happy Go Lucky. He has not met a person he doesn't like. My Son and his girlfriend were here for Christmas and fell in love with him. Unfortunately, they are not currently in a position where they can take on the responsibility of a dog. I see Toby with a young man, or a young family with a little older kids, as Toby will still jump when meeting new people. He must have an enclosed yard. He loves to play ball, or tug-a-war. He would be really fun to take to the dog park. He bonds very quickly, I am his new best friend, other than Peanut. If I am sitting, Toby is by me. Unless I tell him to go get in his bed.

Update 10/22/2013 Toby is an alpha dog. He is protective of his toys and bones. He would do best in a home with only himself. That being said, he is full of energy, and self confidence. He would require a backyard to play in. He loves to play ball, and play with toys. He is walking so much better on the leash, he is beginning to understand how pleasant walks are when he does not pull. He quickly learned the doggie door. He is very smart, but he needs an owner who is firm with him, and willing to spend the time playing with him. I could see this boy doing agility training, he has so much energy. And he is very smart. And he minds. He would make a wonderful companion for the right person or family. I was told he was good with kids, but I have not observed him with children. I would say kids over 8 at least.

Update 10/12/13: Toby went to the vet this week. He is a healthy boy at 10 lbs. We discovered a lump on his side, and the vet tested it, and it is believed to be a fatty tissue lump, not anything serious. Toby is what I would describe as an alpha dog. When he is playing, it is "out of my way everyone. This is all about me!" We are working on this dominance. But he is Mr. Personality plus, and full of confidence. He is walking nicely on a leash, but does tend to tug, we are also working on this. We have had a few accidents in the house, but when things calm down, and he learns the doggie door, I am sure this will not be a problem. He sleeps with his brother Casey, in a bed next to my bed. Casey and Toby have been together most of their lives, and need to stay together.

Initial Bio 10/09/13: Toby is a 4 year old Yorkie Terrier. He was surrendered to UYR due to the passing of his owner. Toby would like to stay with his buddy Casey, they have been together since 8 weeks of age. Toby is very outgoing and playful. He loves toys, but his favorite activity is playing ball. If you throw the ball, he will get it and bring it back and wait for you to throw it again. This guy has lots of energy. But he will kick back, also. He appears to be a healthy boy. I will post further information after their vet appointment.
