Here's what the humans have to say about me:
Stanley is a happy-go-lucky, eager to please, snuggle bug of a shepherd mix. He was living in a truck yard in the 5th Ward with a couple of other dogs who were rescued shortly before him. Without his pack, and being ‘smaller’ it quickly became clear Stanley was having trouble fending for himself against other alpha males trying to challenge him. He ended up injuring his leg and luckily, a foster stepped up to allow him get the medical attention he needed.
At 3 years old and 40 lbs (09/2013), Stanley is all healed up now and is currently living with 6 other four legged friends at his foster mom’s house. Stanley has been neutered, vaccinated, house- and crate-trained, and is currently undergoing slow-kill treatment for heartworms. Stanley is not a fan of loud noises, and can sometimes be easily startled so would prefer a calmer home life. He LOVES any activity involving a tennis ball! Stanley is great with new people and has never met a stranger. He’s also very good with kids and would be wonderful in a home with kids. He has done great with all of the other dogs he has met, but has not been around cats yet.
Always being the underdog on the streets, Stanley was very weary of other animals when he was first picked up but has really come out of shell and made an amazing transformation over the last year. He’s grown so much and continues to do so. He is going to make someone an amazing companion and just needs a guardian/home with someone or a family who will love him and give him the TLC he deserves.
Stanley’s adoption fee is $125. If you, or someone you know, are interested in adopting Stanley, please fill out a foster application on our website at http://www.forgottendogs.org/adoption_application Thanks!
