My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Updated Bio -10/31/13 Shelby is around 9 years old. She is 5.14 lbs of pure sweetness and love. She is being fostered in Leesburg, FL.

Can you believe how beautiful this little angel is? She recently saw the vet and got a great report. Her heart and lungs are healthy and strong. She confirmed that Shelby probably has major hearing loss and her eyes are cloudy, but it's not cataracts and Shelby can see. She always knows where her foster mom and dad are, and she's right there with them.

Shelby is house trained and will go to the door when she needs to go out. She will also use a potty pad. She walks great on a leash, rides like a champ in the car in her car seat, and doesn't mind the crate.

Anyone who adopts this amazing little girl will be so lucky. Don't let her age scare you. She has many good years left in her. She sticks with her people and doesn't pay much attention to the other dogs in the house and totally ignores the cat. She would make a great companion for someone who wants a little sweet girl to hold and cuddle with. She's so soft and loving it would be so easy for anyone to fall in love with her. What a joy this little one is.

Initial Bio 10/26/13 Meet Shelby our newest little girl. Shelby is a loving 8 - 10 year young Yorkshire Terrier weighing 6 pounds. She is being fostered in Leesburg, Fl.

Shelby is a very sweet, well mannered little girl. She was found one weekend in January 2013, tied to a fence next to a high kill shelter, in deplorable condition. The shelter was not scheduled to open until Monday so no one really knows how long she was outside attached to that fence. Her toenails were so long they were curing up and her coat was a tangled matted mess. It is thought she might have been abused and certainly neglected.

Her rescuers took her in and cared for her until sadly, and with a heavy heart, unforeseen circumstances forced them to have to surrender Shelby.

She has only been in her foster home for less than a day and has attached herself to her new foster mom and dad. She likes to be where ever they are. She now has some foster sisters to play with too, but hasn't really given them much attention.

Though Shelby has cataracts in both eyes, she can still see and gets around great. She is still a little timid and weary of hands grabbing at her, therefore she has to be approached gently and quietly. Because her teeth are so bad she is now eating soft food, but can handle kibble. She will see the doctor next week. She is current on all her vaccinations and HW negative. Most likely she will probably need a dental.

She will be going to the groomer soon and have new pictures taken.

As we get to know Shelby better and as her real personality emerges when she knows us better, there will be more to tell you about this sweet, loving little girl, who has been through so much and would so so much deserve a forever, loving home to live out the rest of her life.
