Here's what the humans have to say about me:
UPDATED BIO 1/28/2014: Chelsea is a 6 pound little Yorkie being fostered in West Palm Beach. Chelsea's age was initially estimated by the shelter to be 11 years old however we really feel she is more like 7-9. She is very playful and loves to jump all over and play with the other dogs.
She is a very happy dog and loves to run around and chew on bones. She does like to play with toys sometimes as well. She is very sweet and loves other dogs and people too. She also loves to eat! She has one tooth left, but that does not stop her from eating her food, and she is not fussy. She has gained a bit of weight, so we make sure to be very careful about how much food she gets.
Chelsea does have a condition known as dry eye, and it has improved with medication. She will need eye medication on a daily basis for the rest of her life to ensure her eyes stay healthy. She is going back to the eye doctor the end of February for a follow up, but she is available now!
She has been to the dog park several times, but while she is completely comfortable in her own home, she does get scared with all the barking dogs, so we leave her at home now.
Chelsea has gotten better with going outside with the other dogs and now enjoys being outside with them and sniffing around. She still is not 100% housetrained, but has improved.
Due to her small size, she needs to go to a household with calm children over the age of 16. She would benefit greatly from having another small (under 10 lbs) playful dog in the house as well.
Update 12/11/13: UPDATED BIO 12/11/2013: Chelsea is a 5.8 pound little Yorkie being fostered in West Palm Beach. Chelsea's age was initially estimated by the shelter to be 11 years old. Based on her lack of teeth and the dry eye condition of her eyes, we can understand why. However, she is very playful and loves to jump all over and play with the other dogs. We do think she is younger, but we are really not sure what age she is - maybe between 7-9.
Chelsea does have a condition known as dry eye, and it has improved with medication. On a scale of 0-20 where 20 being optimal tear production, she was at 0. Now, however, she is at 10 after being on medication for 6 weeks. We hope her tear production will continue to increase, but won't know until she goes back to the eye dogtor on February. She will need eye medication on a daily basis for the rest of her life to ensure her eyes stay healthy.
Chelsea is very sweet and fairly quiet. She is a little love and wants to be right where her people are. She loves other little dogs and doesn't care about the cats. She has one tooth left in her mouth, so her little tongue sticks out most of the time - too cute!
Chelsea will go outside with the other dogs to do her business, but she is not completely housetrained. However, her piddles are small and easy to clean up.

UPDATED BIO 10/22/2013: Chelsea is a 5.5 pound little Yorkie being fostered in West Palm Beach. Chelsea's age was initially estimated by the shelter to be 11 years old. Based on her lack of teeth and the dry eye condition of her eyes, we can understand why. However, when she went to the dogtor, the vet had serious doubts about that estimation, and we agree. Chelsea loves her toys and is very playful with a visiting Chihuahua - all they do is play all day while the other dogs just snooze. We don't know how old Chelsea is, but based on her wanting to have fun, we guess much younger than 11 years old! Have a look at the video and see for yourself!

INITIAL BIO 10/22/2013: MEET CHELSEA! She is a sweet 11 year old girlie, who weighs 5.7 lbs; Chelsea is being fostered in West Palm Beach, FL.
Chelsea somehow found herself at a local high-kill shelter. She has only been in her foster home for a short time, but so far, she was excited to meet the other dogs and happy to eat some wet food. She is just a touch on the underweight side, so her FM will try to get her to gain another 1/2 lb or so to be a healthier weight.
Chelsea's eyes were terribly dry and looked infected when she got to her foster home, and she was rushed to the eye doctor. The doggie eye doctor said that her eyes were very dry and had apparently not been treated for a long time, or at all. Chelsea is not producing tears - none. As a result, she has developed pigment on her eyes because of the severe Dry Eye condition. She has several ointments that will need to be put in her eyes several times a day (probably for her lifetime), and the good news is that she did not have an eye infection or any ulcerations. Please check back soon for updates on sweet Chelsea.
Please don't turn away from Chelsea due to her eye issues ~ these types of things happen to humans, too, as we age, and we certainly wouldn’t want folks to turn away from us or ignore us because of it. Chelsea's perfect home would be as an only dog, or perhaps with another dog close to her size and age for a companion. She would make a perfect companion for an empty nester or a retired couple. Please consider this little sweetheart ~ she so deserves to live the rest of her life in a loving and compassionate home.
