My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Sasha is the red one of this pair.
We first saw these two girls when another rescue was trying to courtesy assist them. Their owner was going to dump them in a high kill shelter if they were not gone within the week.

The other rescue found a couple that promised them a loving forever home. However upon discovering the amount of medical these two needed, this couple threatened to dump the dogs in a shelter if they were not picked up immediately. Talk about jumping from the frying pan into the fire! SCDR then agreed to squeeze Sasha & Isabelle in to rescue them from this failed second attempt at finding a good owner(s).

Sasha & Isabelle were originally purchased as littermates by a young man and his girlfriend. When the couple split up, the dogs were left with the woman who totally neglected them. Her justification? She wasn’t really a dog person. (We think her lack of heart shows she isn’t a human person either).

Isabelle is the more outgoing of the pair and is the first to greet strangers. She’s friendly and sweet. She has a mild seizure disorder which manifests itself as periods of head shaking if she is not given her medication. She takes phenobarbital twice/day (very inexpensive). Her original owner was only giving her a pill every three days or so. We have her back on schedule and have had her phenobarbital levels checked to make sure her dosage is appropriate.

Sasha is the smaller and shyer of the pair. She has to know you before being comfortable being petted. Although she follows Isabella’s lead, we think she is the one in charge. Sasha has an adorable cowlick running from her nose to her eyes. We call it her racing stripe.

Isabelle & Sasha do not like cats and they are not appropriate for a home with young children. They were originally overwhelmed by the other dogs in their foster home but they are now reluctantly learning to live with a pack. (They want to be special to someone!) Isabella is beginning to show signs of enjoying the games the other dogs play but Sasha is still not so sure.

We have gotten both girls a much needed dental and they have been spayed and vaccinated. We also treated them for the bad cases of Giardia they came with (Giardia is a parasite infection normally gotten through unsanitary living conditions)

Sasha and Isabelle want a home that takes them out for walks. They have a lot of years to make up for!! They sleep quietly in their crate at night.

If you are interested in Isabelle & Sasha,, please fill out the online adoption application and email Lindy at linla@comcast.net.

The tax deductible donation for both is $300.
