Born Again Pit Bull Rescue regularly works with the wonderful people at the Del Norte County Animal Control located out in rural Crescent City, CA (a tiny coastal city on the OR/CA border). They have a very small shelter with small indoor 3x6 kennel runs, low foot traffic, odd adoption viewing hours and it rains a lot which means the dogs can’t come outside and play.
We want you to see some really great dogs that they have in their care--it's just a 5-hour drive from Portland to adopt your new BFF! *Please note that occasionally there are volunteers who can assist with transporting the dog from the shelter to Grants Pass/Eugene/Salem/Portland *
Del Norte County Animal Control is located in Crescent City, CA. They are open Monday – Friday from 8am to 5pm. They are closed Saturday and Sunday.

This poor girl has had it rough, and deserves a second chance in a loving home! Pumpkin is a Shar Pei/terrier mix. We’re guessing that this sweet, older girl is at least 5 years old. When she first arrived at the Dogs of Del Norte shelter, she was in bad shape. She is currently being treated for sarcoptic mange mite, and is also receiving eye drops and antibiotics. With the medicine and some TLC, she’s going to be one pretty lady!
Due to her medical issues, she cannot interact with the other dogs at the shelter. But that’s ok with her because she doesn’t seem to notice other dogs when she passes by. Pumpkin is not shy around people, but it is clear that she has not received a lot of cuddly love. She loves being petted, and is very grateful for any attention she receives. Pumpkin is a lower energy dog, so she will do best with a walking companion who enjoys leisurely strolls with plenty of sniffing breaks. She is happy to give you free snuggles, all you have to do is visit the shelter!
