Here's what the humans have to say about me:
10/14/13: Lailah is safe in a foster home and doing great. More soon.
09/28/13: Lailah Was Surrendered To A Shelter By People Who Obviously Never Appreciated Her Wonderfulness
A plea to help Lailah and Phil at an overcrowded southern shelter was circulated to a large group of rescue organizations. Although we wanted to help we have very limited foster homes. We did not respond until we read a "last chance" post pleading for someone to save their lives. We did not want to see these wonderful dogs die and we were lucky enough to find people who would assist us short term. Both Lailah and Phil were staff favorites at the shelter so they were very grateful that we were able to help.
The initial information from the shelter was that Lailah was a very sweet 6 year old girl! She was so friendly and well behaved that the shelter used Lailah to interact with new dogs to evaluate their behavior with other dogs. The shelter said she was very calm and level headed with everyone and was even tolerant of the cats that were walking around the kennels.
We had Lailah fostered for two weeks in a temporary foster home when she first left the shelter. What we learned so far is that Lailah is super sweet and is a very good traveler in the car. She is a relatively calm girl who is content to lay on a dog bed and snooze most of the day. When people come home she is excited to see them and likes to leap into the air in pure joy at seeing them. However, she is very respectful and does not jump on your body.
Lailah is a love and likes to initiate play when she is happy. While running in the temporary foster home's fenced yard, she loved to run around while her foster dad clapped his hands. All of her energy is short lived so she would do well in a more sedate household with older people or older friendly animals. Another wonderful thing about Lailah is that she is a perfect house dog. She has impeccable house manners and does not need a crate when she is left alone. She is also very gentle and does not pull when on leash.
