Here's what the humans have to say about me:
Meet our special little Spirit!
Spirit is a petite young mixed breed male who came to our rescue on 1/26/13 on the urging of the shelter staff and a behaviorist who were all fighting for Spirit's life to be saved. We knew initially that he was a timid dog, and may require more time than average to warm up. As soon as we got him, it became clear that his needs were a little bit more than we bargained for, because this little boy was simply not comfortable at all around humans. In fact, he was petrified of humans. He hasn't shown any aggression whatsoever to humans, but he scampers away when they try to approach and cowers away from their touch. After having him evaluated by several professionals, the general consensus is that he was severely abused as a very young pup.
Since being moved into the care of one of our experienced fosters, Spirit has made quite a bit of progress. He is slowly but surely learning that there are humans he can trust.
Spirit recently went to a real foster home complete with a mommy and daddy and 2 young kids and is doing WONDERFUL! He continues to make strides every day. The more time he spends around patient and understanding humans, the closer he gets to becoming a normal dog. Spirit does enjoy other dogs, but as he does have some adjustment issues, other dogs sometimes do not appreciate his special needs. This boy just loves guniea pigs though...he thinks are the coolest little things and loves to watch them play!
This cute little guy has been severely let down by humans in the past and is just starting to learn that there are people who will love and nurture him. If you think you are willing to give Spirit a chance as an adoptive home, Adopt A Pup will be there to assist with any questions or concerns.
Adopt A Pup Animal Rescue does not have a physical shelter location, all of our pets are in foster homes. To meet one of our animals, you will need to fill out an application. After your application is reviewed, one of our volunteers will contact you to set up a time for you to meet the pet.
