Here's what the humans have to say about me:
Howie's adoption fee is $350.
Howie is a Shih Tzu mix, weighing roughly 18 pounds, with silky black and white fur. He is an adorable little pup who impresses you constantly with his sweet easy-going nature and desire to please. Although his history is unknown as he was found as a stray, the vet believes him to be roughly 3 years old. Although he is very timid upon first meetings, when given time to adjust and a calm environment, he has adapted easily to every situation he has been put in. Howie loves walks, sailing, running behind the bike, and being rubbed by his family. His favourite time to date has been hiking in the valley with his foster family and exploring the bush. Although he had no idea what to do with toys when he first came to us, he is beginning to show interest when his foster parents entice him with a squeaky toy.
Howie’s new owner can expect all the behaviours of an older dog growing up in a loving family: obedient, respectful of furniture, coming when called, and staying with his family off-leash in open areas. Like most dogs, he is wary of strangers and will bark when people come to the door, but he is quick to settle. He is neutered, vaccinated, micro chipped and in good health. He is house trained, and has no difficulty making it through the night, although initially he may need to be let out more often than normal until he can adapt to his new surroundings and schedule.
Howie adds joy and calm to a household. He gets along extremely well with the other dogs in the house, and has never shown one ounce of aggression. Cats in the home are not recommended as he does chase them. His exposure to children has been limited, however, so we are not sure how he will react to loud and boisterous play - he would be best suited to an adult home or one with older children. Howie is a gentle and affection little guy who will melt anyone’s heart. He truly deserves a family that will appreciate him, give him firm but caring boundaries, consistent routines and lots of loving.
