Here's what the humans have to say about me:
Update 12/03/13: Dovie is a 3 year old yorkie who weighs 12 pounds and is being fostered in Grapevine, Texas. She had her puppies on 11-3-2013, and she is a great little mom. She will be ready for adoption in January after she is spayed and up to date on her vaccinations.
Out-of-state adoption transport policy: We do not ship dogs via air cargo to out-of-state adopters. Adopters, if approved, are responsible for transport expenses that may include airfare for both adopter and dog. These expenses are above and beyond the adoption donation fee.
Dovie is a very affectionate dog. When we first rescued her she was starved for attention, and at times was overly demanding. Now she loves to snuggle and sleep beside you. She loves to sit in your lap and have her tummy rubbed. She loves walks, and has such a happy temperament. She is housetrained for the most part. She has had such a rough life(4 pregnancies in less than 2 years) and little to no vet care. She would love to have a family that gives her the attention she deserves and loves her unconditionally. If you have lots of love and time to spend with her please fill out the application. She is a lovely little girl!
Bio update 9/26/13 : Dovie is going to have puppies she will be due sometime around Halloween. The vet could feel at least three puppies. Therefore, she will not be available for adoption for approximately 3 months. We will be focusing on getting her weight up as she is very thin. She will need a healthy diet to support the growth of her pups. Stay tuned as we anticipate the birth of her babies!
Initial Bio 9/20/13 : Dovie is a very sweet little girl who is being fostered in Grapevine, TX. She is 3-1/2 years old and weighs 12 pounds. She was surrendered to UYR when the owner was afraid she was pregnant again. She has been pregnant 3 other times in less than 2 years. She was kept in a home with 4 unneutered male Chihuahuas. She has never had any vet care or prenatal care. We rescued her and took her to the vet who was unable to determine if she was pregnant. He believed it was too early to tell. She had a fecal and a heartworm test and both were negative. We cannot proceed with vaccinations until we know her pregnancy status.
She is a beautiful blond dog with a very sweet personality. She seems starved for attention, and would love to be petted non-stop. She has adjusted to her foster home very nicely. She does most of her business outside, but she does occasionally “mark” by hiking her leg like a male dog. She probably picked that up in her previous home.
If she is pregnant, she won’t be available until after her puppies are weaned. If she isn’t pregnant, she will be spayed and then be available for adoption.
Stay posted as we learn more about her possible pregnancy!
