Here's what the humans have to say about me:
Meet Shannon! A beautiful, 1.5 year female. She is named after her rescuer, a kind and concerned dog lover who thankfully found her on her rural property in early July 2012 and most likely saved her life. She was emaciated, dehydrated, near heatstroke and near death. After a week of care, the family contacted our rescue, as they already had several other dogs to care for.
After 3 months of rehabilitation from a fractured pelvis and heartworm treatment, Shannon is ready to be adopted. She has gained 20 pounds (from 42 pounds at the time of rescue).
This girl has such passion for life and her caregivers. She is friendly and un-fearful with new people, but will bark at their arrival. Shannon is crate-trained, house-trained and knows some obedience commands. She responds best to consistent, alpha leadership.
Her favorite things are her toys, playing fetch, taking long walks and being inside just lying at your feet. She is proud, stoic, brave and somewhat independent, and happy to be put in her crate for rest or overnight. Shannon is still working on manners with food and toy possession and rough play but she’s steadily improving. Shannon has a prey drive and will chase cats!
Shannon is an incredible lifetime companion who deserves a wonderful, secure and loving forever home.
