Check out our sister brand, Kinship, for vet chat, a nutrition calculator, basic obedience training, and (much) more. So you're never flying solo in this pet parenting thing.

Here's what the humans have to say about me:
Gidget is a sweetheart of a little lady. I have seen her grow from only wanting to chase birds and squirrels to wanting love and cuddles. (She still chases the birds and squirrels.) She knows her name very well and will come running when called. She escaped from the yard once, but when I caught up to her she immediately came right to me. In the evening when she quiets down, she likes to cuddle up with someone. Gidget is not normally real energeic in the house. Once in awhile she will get going but is pretty calm inside. She is great wth kids, cats and other dogs. She rarely barks even when she is in the house and people with dogs are walking by. She learns fairly fast. If she is doing something I don't wan her to do, all I need to say is 'Gidget, no" and she immediately stops. As she comes in when it is raining, I'll tell her to stop, lets wipe your feet and she will let me dry her feet off.
She will need some basic training. She knows down, sit, lay down etc. but sometimes she will pretend she doesn't know what those words mean. She has a habit of counter surfing as well as cat litter box surfing. She is crate trained, however she prefers not to be in it. At times she will howl for a few minutes before settling down. When I am gone I let her have the run of the house for small periods of time. She has not gotten into nor has destroyed anything. At night time I let her have the run of the house. She usually sleeps in the living room. Last night she jumped into bed with us. I will stop her from that habit in case her new family doesn't want her in bed. (Although she laid very still and slept soundly!)
Update 10/25/07:
The results of the biopsies came back benign!! So she is healthy other than the whipworms and that is being taken care of.
History:
Gidget's owner surrendered her because he didn't have time for her any more. It appears that she has had a couple of litters, so he probably used her for breeding and that was it. The owner said she was an outdoor dog. For her being an outside dog she is really well trained. She learned her house training habit quickly and hasn't had any accidents in the house. She is being treated for whipworms. She had a couple of growths removed (one from her neck and two from her uterus) which are being biopsied. (Results not back yet.) She will need a fenced in yard.
