I would like to introduce myself, Piper here, my foster Mom said I was named after the pipe that I was pulled out of when they rescued me. See I am a famous TV / Newspaper story. My rescue journey starts with the Coast Guard, not everyone gets that kind of start. See, they rescued me from the Hillsborough River after someone spotted me swimming alone in the river. I was having a hard time keeping up the doggie paddle and decided to take a break in a nearby drainage pipe that I was able to climb into. They were able to get close enough to me to pull me to safety.
After spending a couple of weeks in what some people call "doggie jail", I was able to go home with my foster Mom. Meeting my foster siblings has been exciting, and I have been met with learning challenges. See I am a very happy go lucky kind of dog. I say that cause I love to give kisses, and I do not hold back even if you're a dog. This is where I sometimes get into trouble cause not every dog likes to have me drooling, snorting, or licking them in the face, let alone ears. My foster Sister especially dislikes it and growls at me. I keep thinking I will win her over with time, but so far she still does not like it. My foster bothers tend to be VERY territorial of Mom, so while I like to cuddle and get loved on, I have to steal time with her to get spoiled. Sometime I am so quick they don't see me coming.
Now, my greatest learning opportunity has been CATS. I haven't quite figured them out, and when I have gotten close enough to them they do not like the fact I pin them underneath me. So, Mom watches our interaction very closely, for the safety of all, cause I have gotten a claw swipe from one of them.
So enough about my environment, and how I have gotten to this place, and more about ME: I am still very full of puppy energy; I love to play fetch and actually bring the toys back to you; I know how to sit and lift paw on command; I walk well on a leash; I have a healthy appetite and I usually go around after everyone and help Mom with cleaning the bowls; I am potty trained; I like to be outdoors - only if you are with me; I sleep next to the bed on the floor, preferable on a blanket; I know what a crate is and I do go in, but I am not a happy camper - do you blame me? My foster Mom says I only have one bad trait - besides the cat thing - I do NOT like water, image that. So, that is my story - I would love to melt your heart and find my furever home with you.
