My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

SHAKU – 6yr old, very gentle and well behaved Husky/Malamute (owner surrender)

I met this dog about a week ago -SHAKU is an owner surrender. The daughter (owner) left him with her mother who cannot keep the dog and is looking through my rescue (AnimalDefense Rescue.org) to rehome this wonderful dog.

In spite of his size this male is easy to walk, but as mostly kept free roaming and in the backyard could benefit of more guidance on behaviors in general, and on walks. SHAKU is easy to direct and wants to please his master once he accepts the new owner as his leader. We would like to see SHAKU in a household where people focus on him with exercise, regular walks and outdoor activity rather than have him as an apartment pet. SHAKU needs good stimulation given by a large breed experienced person so that he does not get bored. Once a routine and roles are established SHAKU will be a wonderful life long companion for the right person.

SHAKU lives with other – much smaller dogs- and feels well in their presence. A preferred home would be without very small children.

The screening process will thorough and will go through AnimalDefense Rescue.org and applications need to be filled out, home checks done as well as introductions to the new home.
