It was mid-April 2011, when the two women working a feeding route for strays in a desolate area of Houston found the dog in a sorry state with her four-month old puppy. They were starving and had no fur. There were painful sores and swellings on their poor emaciated bodies. And they looked so sad! There was no way the two horrified women would leave them there. They gave the dogs a ride out of hell and two generous and kind men, moved by their plight, became their sponsors. Soon they became Treat Em Right dogs and received all the medical care and loving attention they needed. We named her Sugar and her puppy Bunny. Bunny has already been adopted but Sugar is still waiting patiently for her day to come.
Meet Sugar. When did she get to be a beauty? In her gleaming dark brown fur with a beautiful bronze sheen and pretty white markings, graceful and elegant, this American Staffordshire terrier now glows with good health and has become a stunning dog! She has cute bat wing ears and a sweet black nose.
Her name is Sugar and she lives up to it in spades. Sugar is astonishing in her capacity for loving and sweet devotion. She will hug you gently and kiss you and lay her sweet head upon your shoulder. Sugar loves people of all ages and really loves other dogs. She is easy-going, happy and very playful. She is sweet and sensible and a lot of fun!
We are so proud of Sugar for earning her CANINE GOOD CITIZEN certification!!
