Sweet boy, big as a bear, dark as midnight and friendly as Gulliver. I’m a purebred Labrador Retriever with a soul that welcomes everyone and says, “ Let’s play a little ball, eh?”

My Mama didn’t expect or ask for the things that have happened to her since Papa died. But we learned life’s a book that writes itself sometimes. Looks like she and Chase and I will soon be parting ways. She needs to be in a smaller place now, closer to family in the city. And as much as we love her, we Labs are not meant for city life. So we’re putting ourselves up for adoption and hoping for the best outcome possible….for Chase, for me and for Mama.

I already told Mama not to worry about us. Chase and I are both good boys. We’ve been through our basic obedience classes and if you give us our commands, we know what to do. We could live together or apart; whatever offers us the best shot at a secure, happy future. Myself, I know I could survive on my own, as long as my new family has a tennis ball. I can even throw it to myself for hours and play alone if I need to.

I can also play the loyal watchdog, barking deep and loud to let my owner know someone’s coming to the door. And at night, I can be the giant teddy bear, cuddling on the rug in front of the TV, or snuggling up against my owner’s back in bed……if it’s a big enough bed, of course. And if a cat, the kids or other dogs are around, don’t worry. I like everyone. And why shouldn’t I? They all like me!

I’ve had swell care all my 6 years so I’m in good health and am up to date on all the vaccinations. I’m neutered and microchipped, too. We have always been loved and nothing was too good for us. My coat’s as thick and shiny as a seal’s and my teeth sparkle like pearls. I’d make any owner proud to have me around; that’s a fact!
