Here's what the humans have to say about me:
AVAILABLE FOR ADOPTION AT PUPPY DOG RANCH: FAITH! Faith was brought to PDR on Sunday, June 16th. She is the first of what will be a "round up" of deserted dogs in our area.
This sweet, calm girl who, by the gray in her hair, shows she has lived a very tough life. Just estimated to be roughly 6 years old, Faith is one of hundreds of unwanted dogs and cats who are routinely dumped in one of the largest copper mines (1,500' deep) in Grant County/southwest, New Mexico, to live in a toxic environment, with no food or water, left exposed to the elements, she has a severe burn on her back, burns on her feet and muscle/nerve damage in a rear leg, which all are now being treated by PDR's veterinarian. Obviously a majority of these animals are not spayed or neutered and packs of male dogs routinely "gang rape" the females when they are in heat, as is also another monstrosity Faith endured. She is on meds and baby aspirin, has been de-wormed, is now eating and drinking water and is resting while she begins to heal.
This sweetie just lays quietly in your lap -- you can set her down anywhere and she just calmly goes to sleep! Faith would be a perfect companion in a calm home, with a senior citizen or retired person or couple. She travels perfectly in a car and loves to look out the window from the comfort of your lap! Faith is scheduled to be spayed this Thursday and will be available for adoption at that time. Call Laurie at (575) 313-7232 for more info or go to www.puppydogranch.org.
6-24-13 UPDATE: Faith is a sweetheart, is playful and very cuddly and affectionate! The scab on her back is coming off and her new, pink skin is making an appearance and getting ready for her hair to grow back in! She is running around a bit but still has stitches from her surgery. Stitches will come out the end of this week and we will have her re-checked.
7-8-13 UPDATE: Faith is playing with our large herd of ankle biters, including larger dogs, she is definitely house trained, she LOVES to cuddle on your lap and sleep in your bed (under the blanket), she is NOT A BARKER, she is NOT NERVOUS, and her burns are healing nicely with daily doses of Neosporin and treatment for her ear infections. Her rear leg injury was (what our Vet said) more likely a slight dislocation or muscle/joint damage. WHAT A SWEETHEART!! Our vet made note today that it will take a while for her to heal from her spay, as he thinks she has had several litters, back to back, of very large pups.
