Here's what the humans have to say about me:
Yoshi (yO-shee), which is a Japanese male name meaning "good luck" or "good", is a 4-5 year old pure bred Sesame male Shiba Inu that came to us from a shelter in Nebraska. Yoshi and his son, Kichiro, escaped from their owner's yard and during their escapade they attacked and killed some chickens on a neighboring property. The dogs were seized by Animal Control and the owner could have paid to get them out but didn't have the funds. Unfortunately killing the chickens labelled the dogs as "dangerous" and therefore if not released back to the owner they faced euthanasia as they could not be adopted out to anyone in the state. Luckily for these two boys, a worker (or possibly volunteer, not sure which) of the shelter was a follower of our rescue and contacted us. She was able to convince Animal Control to transfer the dogs to our rescue.
So far Yoshi is sweet with people, including children as he was around the Director's 3 1/2 year old daughter and did well. He is good with most other dogs. He is NOT good with cats and should not be trusted around small animals--HE WILL GO AFTER THEM AND PROBABLY KILL THEM!
Yoshi is working on crate training and is potty trained. He will whine in his crate at first but then quiets down. He also needs to be coaxed or placed into the crate still, he will not go into it on his own yet. He can find holes in fences but has been in the Director's backyard which has short chain link so as long as there are no gaps or spaces at all in corners or at the bottom of the fence he should be fine. We also never recommend leaving a dog outside if no one is home. Another option is privacy wood fencing or he may be a possibility for an apartment.
Yoshi's adoption fee is $275.00. He is neutered, vaccinated for distemper, bordatella, and rabies, is microchipped in the rescue's name and will come with a 6 week professional training class.
