Here's what the humans have to say about me:
Roxy is an amazingly beautiful mix of heeler and Akita or shepherd and Akita? From her puppy-like energy you would think she is a lot younger then her 4-5 years implies. This 45 lb. beauty has a beautiful blue silky coat and gorgeous eyes. Roxy was saved out of high kill Georgia at the very last minute by her foster mom who just knew she’d be the “most perfect dog ever”. And she has delighted and impressed the entire foster family the weeks she has been with them. Roxy is super smart, super great on the leash and super-duper with every dog (big or small) she meets. She is mellow and playful and displays no signs of dominance. She is crate trained but she has been so good in the house (perfectly house trained) that foster mom never used a crate. I addition to house training she doesn’t chew, get on furniture or anything disruptive so she can be trusted out and about. She is mature enough to over these traits and has been someone’s inside pet, but we have no clue how this wonderful girl ended in a high kill Georgia shelter. Nearly a million dogs die every year in Georgia shelters, and Roxy is one of the very lucky dogs. lucky to get saved, and double lucky to be headed to Washington State and her forever home in the Great Northwest!. To quote her foster mom “Roxy is amazing with children”, she has been exposed to very young toddlers and is calm and patient with the little ones. Also the best bud and video partner of the teenagers in the group, they lay on her and they love her so! If a young ones jumps or falls on her, she moves. As amazing with cats as she is with kids, she totally ignores them. See what I mean about “perfect”!!?? And if you needed more convincing her foster mom says she is a true “people” dog. She loves her human peeps and prefers to lay at your feet. She loves car rides, waits for her leash to be put on and loves to ride “shotgun”! She is very laid back and easy going is her mantra. Foster mom Carol says her energy level is great, super on the leash and easy enough for the kids to walk her. She likes to stay close to the family, but loves her evening walks with the couple and does a morning run with her foster dad. Foster mom says she might be a little shy at first, but she will open up soon enough- and then look out for the best girl to step forward! She said Roxy loves the sound of conversation, and the more she “talked to her like a person” the better she responded. She’ll love the sound of your voice! What Roxy would really like is a home where people are around most of the day, either kids or adults- she’ll be happy. She gets along great with dogs but people too! Roxy is headed out west on Saturday, June 15th with arrival around the 19th. She is spayed, vaccinated and micro-chipped. Your fun loving family should be waiting at the curb for this lovely lady to pull up! Grab ahold and take her home and you all will be happy! For an application for Miss Roxy from Georgia, go to www.raincityrescue.com or contact Pam at raincityrescue@gmail.com for questions. Roxy’s calm temperament, quiet protectiveness and proud spirit are waiting for you at the end of her long journey!
