Here's what the humans have to say about me:
Raven needs to find a new home and People-4-PAWS has agreed to help. If you are interested in Raven you will still need to fill out an adoption application and provide a vet reference. Her adoption fee is $50. Contact Becky at radavis0419@yahoo.com.
We are looking for a home for our dog Raven. We took her in on a trial back in March to see if she would be a good dog for our daughter to use in 4H. We quickly realized that she was way too strong for our daughter to manage at camps and shows and when we tried to return her to the owner he had moved and couldn't take her back. We would actually like to keep her but we really don't have the time to give her the training she needs.
Raven is really good with people and kids. She loves people and actually has left our property only to go to the neighbors as if to visit. Despite having 8 acres, our fencing is not adequate to keep her in. She is good with our cats, kids, goats, horses and dogs. She is not good with all dogs though and needs to be introduced on a leash. She appears to not have ever had basic obedience however she is very smart and a quick learner. She sits, shakes, lays and will sit at the gate or door or until her food is put down and she is called to it. She rarely jumps up on people, does not counter surf, is house trained. She walks with a gentle leader.
We had her evaluated by a trainer regarding her not liking all dogs. He spent a day with her and felt based on her personality she does not have characteristics of a fighting dog but very much has the traits and personality of a lab/boxer mix. He felt that she needs some socialization.
We really have been torn with what to do. Unfortunetly we really don't have the time to spend socializing her. Being that she can get off our property and she can be dog aggressive we have had to resort to tying her up whenever our little kids are home as they leave the doors open etc and Raven can then get out. She has great potential for a great family pet or even as a hunting dog.
She is spayed,UTD on shots, HW negative, has had flea and tick prevention. She is estimated to be around 3 years old and is about 70lbs. Small rehoming fee to ensure good home.
Raven is about 4 years old, spayed, HW negative and weighs 70 pounds. She is a fence escape artist and is ok with some dogs. As you can see in the picture she is ok with the little pug in the house. However she will need an experienced owner to work with some dog agression and obedience though she is house trained and knows sit, stay and is not a counter surfer and she stays off the furniture. She is good with their children but is very large so no small children.
Personality: Loves, loves, loves people. She is housetrained and very smart. She appears to not ever have had basic obedience however she quickly learned to sit, shake and lay down. She also will sit and wait to be called to her food dish. She is HW negative, spayed and UTD. She does not counter surf and stays off the furniture.
Likes/dislikes: She loves to walk and run and sit outside. She is great with kids, our kids have climbed all over her however she may too much for small children. She dislikes sharing bones.
Good with cats, kids, goats, horses and most dogs. She does need to be introduced on a leash to new dogs.
Reason for needing new home: We took her in on a trial for our daughter to use as a 4H dog and we decided she was not a good fit for this. She is way too strong for my daughter to handle in shows or camps and she doesn’t get along with all dogs. When we took her in it was on a 2 week trial and when we called the previous owner he could no longer take her back as he had “moved”. She also is able to get out of our fencing which so we have to keep her tied up or kenneled when our smaller kids are home as they leave the door open, etc which gives her an avenue for escape. We feel that she would be happier/better suited to a home that has the time for basic obedience and fencing that can keep her in. She is super sweet and a good home is very important. We would really like to keep her but she is just really not the best fit for our family. She also would make a great hunting dog.
