Check out our sister brand, Kinship, for vet chat, a nutrition calculator, basic obedience training, and (much) more. So you're never flying solo in this pet parenting thing.
I found a new home! Plenty of my friends are looking for one too. Check out other pets at this shelter, or start a new search.

Here's what the humans have to say about me:
If you would like to become a special part of Tex life please consider becoming a ‘Sponsor’ for them. A ‘Sponsor’ can make monetary donations or provide supplies for their use in the Forever Ours Home.
UPDATED BIO 2/24/2014: Tex is 10-12 years old and weighs 3- 4.4 pounds; he is being fostered outside of Atlanta in Suwanee, GA. Tex is very sweet and loving and very dependent. He is a little hard of hearing and he doesn’t see very well. Tex requires a lot of attention throughout the day and night. He has painful arthritis and a collapsed trachea both of which require daily medication. He loves being near his person, that’s for sure and does not handle separation very well at all. He panics and chokes whenever he is crated or left alone. Tex is very strongly bonded to one person presently and seems to prefer men. Tex would do best in a family where someone is home all or most of the day. He is with his Foster Dad almost all day every day. He is not completely house trained and must wear a belly band all the time. He generally does some of his business outside but not if the weather is inclement. Tex hates the cold and sleeps very close to his person all night either on the pillow, in the crook of an arm or under the covers. He gets along with other dogs and has no interest in cats.
Tex’s adoption donation is $195, and includes all vetting, spay, microchipping and lab work, in addition to the registration fee for registering her microchip into her new owner’s name(s). All of our foster dogs are fully vetted, altered and current on all vaccinations, including rabies. It is so seldom that the adoption donation will pay for the vetting costs these dogs so often need.
UPDATED BIO 08/19/2013: Tex is 10 years old and weighs 3.38 healthy pounds; he is being fostered outside of Atlanta in Suwanee, GA. Tex’ weight now is just right.
Tex is a loving companion and has completely bonded to his Foster Dad and is welcome to stay in his foster home as long has he needs in order for his forever family to find him. Tex gets plenty of love and lap time. He sleeps in the bed under the covers, or on FD’s pillow above his head. Tex hates being crated and it is the only thing that causes him to bark. Even then, Tex is nearly “bark-less”. When he gets excited, he gets a “coughing fit” instead; see, Tex has a collapsed trachea which is common in the Yorkshire Terrier breed. At this time, it does cause him to have a few “coughing” fits during the day, especially when he gets excited. He does not need medication right now for this.
Tex is very quiet and meows like a kitten or squeaks like a mouse when communicating. Due to his age, Tex has luxating patellas and arthritis in his rear hips, so he gets an anti-pain/anti-inflammatory Rx every day and glucosamine added to his food. He takes his pill like a good boy without any fuss. Tex has to go out to do his business every 2-3 hours. His bladder is very small and his thirst is very large; therefore, he wears a bellyband to mitigate those few times where he just can’t hold it. He generally wakes up dry in the morning though. Tex likes to be carried and to travel around with you. The world is a fascinating place to Tex.
Tex wanted to add his comments to what Foster Dad said: Here goes……………………
Hey Y’all, Tex here, well dang nabbit don’t that beat all. I think my FD has gone all soft on me. That’s ok with me though. He and I is like peas and carrots! I ‘speck I would get along with jes ‘bout anyone if they sit still long enough to give me a place to safely lay my head. I am shore excited.. .they is gonna take this here gol’ durn wire outta my mouth in the next week or two and then we can see ‘bout getting’ the rest of these here teefus cleaned and pulled. (NOTE: Tex arrived in UYR with a broken bottom jaw and it has been wired to stabilize it) It don’t affect my eating none though, but this here wire can sure be kinda prickly. I gotta hurry off and do some lickin’on this here FD of mine. I gotta make sure he knows how greatful I am by a lickin’on him every chance I gets. FD says I got a tongue longer than Mick Jagger, whoever that is. I don’t care. I ain’t á gonna compete with nobody. I’m just gonna get my licks in while I can. Y’all, I ain’t in no particular hurry, this is a nice place and I found me a couple of people to love, but I shore wish I knowed where my forever home was gonna be. I’ve got a lotta licks and kisses saved up for ya!
NOTE: Because of his small size, Tex cannot be adopted into a home with children under the age of 14 years old. Please, there are no exceptions to this policy.
