When Ramie came to us, she was so emaciated - weighing only 4.5 pounds, 1.5 pounds of that matted and nasty fur. She had no energy, wasn't able to walk on her own, and would drag herself around to move. Ramie lived outside her whole life, in all weather, with no real shelter. Ramie had no body fat and very little muscle when she came into our rescue. Both hips were out of their shallow hip sockets, and one back leg was deformed. She had limited bladder control.
Ramie has come a LONG way in 3 months. She weighs over 6 pounds and has no more dirty, matted fur. She's building muscle, and can walk and even run for short distances. When she tires, she does start to wobble or drag her rear legs, but she doesn't let it slow her down!
Ramie sleeps in bed with her foster family. She does wear a diaper sometimes, but is learning how to hold her bladder longer and longer as she gains control of her different muscles.
Best of all, RAMIE IS HAPPY NOW! She loves life. She's just like any other mischievous pup, getting into things she shouldn't, then looking up at you with that sweet little face, knowing it's impossible to scold her! She loves children, and loves when they tote her all over.
Ramie deserves the best home there is, with a family that will continue to work with her as she heals. A family that will love her with their whole hearts, that will keep her safe, that is able to encourage her to do things for herself. Everyone who meets Ramie falls in love with her sweet face that melts their heart. Now she needs someone to look beyond her past and to be her future!
