My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Oso's Story...
Meet Oso! He is the absolute epitome of a gentle giant, just look at his face! Oso is a very tall 4 year old neutered male . As far as we can tell he is an Alaskan Malemute/Shepherd/ Dane (??) cross. He was rescued off the streets of a town in Central America.
Supposedly he "belonged" to someone at the local garbage dump, but even after a few months, no one ever claimed him. He was brought into a vet clinic by a good samaritan who found him extremely thin, malnourished and fighting a terrible infection from an abcess on his neck. The vet clinic treated Bruno, contacted a local rescue who happily took him in and it was all uphill from there!
Oso is a fabulous boy! He is extremely friendly, loving and gentle. He is also a low-energy dog although he does enjoy off leash romps and walks with his people. At home, he is a mellow fellow and loves to curl up by your feet or under your desk during the day, and beside the bed at night. Oso loves being near people,  and although he would much prefer to be at your side he is okay chilling alone. He does have a bark that matches his size, and will "talk" to communicate. He's not an apartment dog. He get along with all dogs (handicapping himself when necessary), walks beautifully on a leash (does not pull or react to barking or loose dogs), ignores chickens and is cat friendly. He is house trained, crate-savvy, knows his name, sit, off, down and had a pretty good recall! Oso was a well loves and well behaved member of a family with 3 children (ages 13, 6 and 3). He loves every person he meets, no matter what their size! This big boy had never seen a toy when he arrived, but now he will chase them, bark at them and even toss them to himself. He is not a chewer, loves being brushed, accepts bathing and grooming and loves to be copilot in cars if he fits :)
Oso is currently living with a trainer, brushing up on his obedience and working on his recall. We expect to have Oso fly up to the Bay Area the week of June 16th 2013.

**Please note that Oso is NOT at our adoption store and after arrival, he can be met at his foster home**
