Here's what the humans have to say about me:
UPDATED BIO 04/08/2013: Gizzy is a super sweet male yorkie who is 9 1/2 years old and weighs 9.5 lbs; he is being fostered in Beechgrove, TN. Gizzy is an owner surrender who, sadly, had heartworms and has begun his heartworm treatment.
Foster Mom says that Gizzy is doing really great two weeks after his first heartworm treatment. So far he has had no ill effects, but the next treatment is the one to be worried about as it is more intense. Gizzy has had several seizures, and both foster parents and the vet are monitoring to see if he needs to be on seizure meds. Dogs going through heartworm treatment need to be kept calm and quiet; Gizzy is a really active little boy and FM says it has really proven challenging to keep him calm as he LOVES to play! He is really adjusting to his foster home and new fur-siblings. He loves to give kisses and sit in laps. He is very curious about everything and wants to go “check it out” any time he hears a noise, smells a smell, hears a voice, etc. Gizzy does not act his age at all! He is one super great little boy who will make someone a loving companion.
Note from UYR: Gizzy’s heartworm treatment is expensive; please consider donating towards his medical bills so that UYR can continue to take in dogs like Gizzy who would have otherwise not lived very long. We are also asking for lots of prayers that all will go well for him during his heartworm treatment.
UPDATED BIO 03-22-2013: Gizzy is a male yorkie who is 9 1/2 years old and weighs 9.5 lbs; he is being fostered in Beechgrove, TN. Gizzy is an owner surrender who, sadly, has heartworms and will receive treatment for this.
Gizzy has something to say recently:
Hey there! Gizzy (short for Gizmo) here and I am doing so much better than I was when I first arrived. I scared my Foster Mom the first couple of days when I had a few seizures. She called my former owner and found out that I have had these before, but they forgot to tell Foster Mom. However, I have only had one tiny seizure in the last week and the doctor thinks I probably don’t need to be on medicine for them, so we are going to see how it goes.
The best news is that I got a great cleaning at the Dog-tor and my teeth are now sparkling white (minus the 3 bad ones they had to pull). I have been on antibiotics for many days and getting rid of those nasty infected teeth has made me a new dog! I now have lots more energy and my inner puppy has emerged. I love to fetch a ball now, give puppy kisses, sit in laps, play with my yorkie siblings and act like a normal happy pup. Foster Mom won’t let me play as much as I’d like to though since I start my heartworm treatment on Monday 03/25 and I have to take it easy until that is all finished. I want to say a big “Woof! Thank You!” to my rescue angels who are helping pay for my all my expensive vet bills. You guys are GRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRREAT! Stay tuned as I continue to get healthier and find my new perfect FOREVER home. Please think about making me you forever fella ~ Foster Mom says that I am sooo sweet!
Note from UYR: Gizzy’s heartworm treatment will be expensive; please consider donating towards his medical bills so that UYR can continue to take in dogs like Gizzy who would have otherwise not lived very long. INITIAL BIO 03-15-2013: MEET GIZZY! He is a male yorkie who is 9 1/2 years old and weighs 9.5 lbs; he is being fostered in Beechgrove, TN. Gizzy was surrendered by his owners who were no longer able to care for him. Sadly, Gizzy has heartworms and must endure heartworm treatment. Prior to coming into rescue, he was shaved to the skin for some reason, but when his hair grows back in, he will be adorable! Heartworm Treatment is dangerous and very costly; please help us help Gizzy so that he can enjoy his senior life in the manner that all senior dogs deserve. Please stay tuned for more info on Gizzy as his foster parents get to know him better. Please say some prayers that all will go well for him during his heartworm treatment.
