Here's what the humans have to say about me:
A few days after Christmas the call was phoned in to animal control. Two dogs were on the railroad tracks. One was dead. When the officer made it out there it was already dark. His light illuminated the sight. The female puppy had been hit by the train and killed. Next to her broken and mangled body her brother lay. He had suffered damage to but somehow made it through the violent encounter. Tar and burned hair encrusted the top of his head and one of his ears had been ripped away. The officer packed both animals up and took them in to the shelter. A plea was sent out across the internet. Could someone come to the aid of a puppy that had been hit by a train? He sat in the shelter with only basic medical care for a week, hoping that someone would save him. Finally, when his last day was near I spied him and decided I had to help. He has now been with us for approximately a year. He was the sweetest puppy in the world. He never played. He ever only wanted to snuggle and be loved. Currently he sleeps in bed with my 10 year old daughter. She loves him because he lets her use him as a pillow and at any point of the night I can walk in and see her draped over him. We have named him Lefty, obviously because he only has a left ear. We tried to call him Van Gogh but when my three year old would say it... it always came out sounding like Burrito. Somehow that seems to fit him too. Since he would prefer to spend his days wrapped up like a burrito in your arms. If you are interested in knowing more about Lefty, please, don't hesitate to email. He deserves a wonderful home... he has been in flux for way too long and needs somewhere permanent to settle in to. MY DAUGHTER has asked that I add these comments about him: "Lefty is super sweet and fun and playful and snugglely. I don't understand why no one is ever interested in him. He is the best dog in the whole world. Everyone should love him!!"
