Here's what the humans have to say about me:
i Lexi’s mom here. She has been with me about 2 months now and has made herself at home. She is one of the most pleasant beagles I have ever had. She is very low maintenance and great when left alone at home. She lays patiently on the cough waiting for our return. As an example we went to a Memorial Day parade and I left her a treat in our den a place she likes to sleep and wait for our return. To my surprise when we came back she was in the living room asleep and had not touched her treat in the den. If you know beagles that is a feet unto itself for they let no food go untouched. Her favorite snack is baby carrots, but will eat whatever you give her. She has become the keeper of the yard and I dare anything to step foot in it. She spends most of her time sitting on our deck looking left and right to see if anything dare step into her domain and then she lets them know who’s boss. We have a fenced in yard with a doggie door, for she would not be good left to wonder around. Her barking has cut way own and she only barks when someone steps on her property or she is playing with you. She still plays rough and loves to be chased around the yard. She does like her walks; but does not like to be left alone in the car. She is very smart and understands more than you think. She does make me left she will stand under the trees looking up and when she see something moves she jumps up and barks, I can just imagine what she is saying “Hey what are you doing up there, this tree is in my yard get out”.
Lexi is a 1 to 1 ½ year old spayed tri-color female beagle. She is a sweet and lovable little girl who is full of energy. She spent 6 months in a shelter before coming to her foster home and has been there about one month where she is doing very well. She did come with very dry skin, but since she has been on a better diet it has all, but cleared up. She appears to have a spring allergy; she coughs and sneezes a bit, but medication seems to have taken care of this as well. The first few days she had a hard time with potty training, but once she got the idea she has been perfect.
She has learned to use a doggie door and goes in and out to a fenced backyard when need be, but prefers to be around someone. Loves to play, but she can play rough barking and nipping at your hands and face. For this reason I don’t think she would be good in a house with small children. She will lie quietly when no one has time to give her attention, but is ready to go at the drop of hat when you’re ready to play or go for a walk. When going for a walk it is tail up and nose to the ground in true beagle style. She can get aggressive while walking, barking and pulling when another dog/ animals come in site. I have not yet socialized her with other dogs, so I can’t say how she would react in close proximity with another dog. She does bark at just about anything that moves out doors. She has separation anxiety when left at home or in the car, but calms down in a couple of minutes.
Lexi likes to ride in the car with her noise out the window from time to time to get some fresh air. At bedtime she wants to be in bed with you and prefers to sleep covered up. During the night she will come out from under the covers and a little later goes back under, sometimes she just pokes her head out and looks just like a person sleeping in bed. She does like to trea up tissues and cardboard from trash cans
