Here's what the humans have to say about me:
INITIAL BIO 03/06/2013 - Meet Nugget! He is a 6 lb Yorkie who found himself in a shelter but with no family to reclaim him. The shelter called UYR to rescue him since he has a slight medical problem, but one that is easily fixed. We believe Nugget to be about 8 or 9 years old and is a bit underweight, he needs to gain at least another 1.5 lbs to be a healthy weight. That should be no problem since he loves to eat! He has something called an oronasal fistula. This is basically a hole between his mouth and his respiratory track. This is frequently caused by periodontal disease or some kind of trauma. Read more about it here: http://www.avds-online.org/info/oralnasalfistula.html. He is already missing a lot of teeth, and the remaining teeth he has are infected and in need of a dental. He is going in on March 19th to have the fistula closed, and have a complete dental as well.
He has been in his foster home a couple of days and has adjusted very quickly. He is very friendly and outgoing, and gets along fine with the other dogs and cats. He likes to go on car rides and for walks and snuggle in his doggie bed. He seems to be housetrained, however, he was just neutered and has marked a bit in the house - which is typical of all new dogs. He knows to go outside to do his business, so we feel once all the hormones are out of his body, he should be much better.
Since he is a smaller guy, his ideal home would be one with either dogs medium and smaller dogs, or mellow dogs. We don't think he would do well with smaller children, but children over 13 should be ok. We expect this little guy to be ready for adoption after his dental on March 19th.
