My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Velvet is a Clydesdale Cross mare (specific breeding is unknown). She is a 15-17 yr old mare and is approximately 16.2-16.3.
Velvet VERY sweet mare, scared of people until she get to know and trust you. I feel Velvet is a special needs horse, emotionally. She will start shivering her bottom lip because she is so afraid of strangers. With the right human she Would make a nice trail horse once she bonds with that person. She does ride, with a little patience needed.

Additional info from volunteer currently working with Velvet:
I have been working with Velvet on basic ground skills and interacting with her as much as I can so I can get her use to being handled. We go through a routine each time I work with her and she has quickly become adapted to it and seems to enjoy it! She has come a long way and has really opened up to me, as I have shown her she can trust me. I groom her and make sure to touch her all over her body and she has become comfortable with this also. She still shakes a little bit when I start working with her, but after about 10 minutes into the lesson she relaxes and all of that stops. We have put a rider on her before and she accepted her, but she did experience her nervous shaking until she got use to having someone on her back. Velvet is a very sweet girl and is going to be a wonderful addition to her new family.
