My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Adorable, silly and super affectionate is how you would describe 10 month old Bernadette (Bernie). She is a happy girl, who lives life to the fullest. She has a lot to be thankful for. Bernie came to us in January of this year. She was saved by angels in blue, who we know as police officers. They discovered her behind an apartment complex early one morning, while responding to a barking dog call. They were shocked when they found her; she had a 3 to 4 inch gash alongside the front of her neck, exposing her esophagus. Police spoke to several people from the apartment complex and they told police that they witnessed someone in a van drop her off and drive away. Bernie needed medical attention, so with clearance from their Lieutenant, an officer drove her to an after- hours emergency veterinary clinic. Bernie’s injury is believed to be caused by someone tying a very tight rope around her neck and leaving it on for some time. With the love and care Bernie received from her foster mom and dad, Bernie was able to blossom into the sweet, playful, intelligent and beautiful girl that was hiding inside her all along. Bernie is available for adoption. She is a social butterfly, who adores people of all ages and other canines. She likes to ride in the car and visit new places. She especially gets a kick out of going to Karen’s K-9 obedience classes with her foster mom. Bernie is an affectionate soul who will crawl up into you and snuggle in as close as she can get. She is looking for a loving, kind and loyal companion to spend her life with, making happy memories along the way. If you want to be Bernie’s companion, please visit www.foreverhome4dogsrescue.com to fill out an adoption application.
