My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Opal's owner passed away and a neighbor contacted us about her. Sadly, she had lived on a chain with her previous owner and from her apperances was not well taken care of. The area where she was chained had coal dust all around it and she had a three sided dog house for shelter.

She is now in our care and has had several baths to get all of the coal dust out of her fur and has been brought up to date on all her vaccines. Sadly, Opal has a large tumor on her back right leg that is not operable due to its size and she is heartworm positive. Our vet has done several X-rays and determine that she does not have any other tumors internally, but she does have some arthritis in her spine and hips. Her age is estimated to be around 10 years old.

At this point, we are looking for a retirement home for Opal to live out the remainder of her days where she can be loved and spoiled like she should be. The vet believes that if the tumor on her leg is cancerous then it is not an aggressive form of cancer since it has not spread. She could have a couple more good years left in her.

Opal is friendly with other dogs, cats and kids and loves to play with her toys. If you might be interested in giving this old girl a loving retirement home, please email us at gsdrescueofeasttn@gmail.com.
