My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Carson is a small standard chocolate and tan smooth male dachshund; about 3 years of age. He is very sweet, but a bit timid. However, he has already warmed up when shown kindness and affection and the staff at the veterinary hospital absolutely adored him. Carson had had no vet work, and was not neutered when he came to us. All of those things will be remedied and he will be brought current on vaccinations and microchipped. Once he completes his vet work we will have more information about this wonderful dog. Check back for more updates on Carson soon!

Carson's journey to us began when his irresponsible owner tried to give him away in a Walmart parking lot, because she "didn't want him anymore". Luckily, a young woman came along whose mother worked with another area rescue group. She called her mother on the cell phone and had her come to the parking lot. They both told the woman that giving away a dog was irresponsible and unsafe for the dog, as far as finding a good home - many unscrupulous breeders look for opportunities such as this to increase their breeding stock. In addition, it is against Walmart corporate policy to sell away or give away live animals on their property. Since the woman was determined to get rid of the dog, the rescuers had her sign the dog over to them, and then they contacted us for help. Fortunately, we had an opening, and were glad to help this sweet fellow. Carson certainly deserves better than being handed over to the first impulsive shopper who wanted him in a Walmart parking lot! We thank the wonderful rescue volunteers who brought him to us.
