Check out our sister brand, Kinship, for vet chat, a nutrition calculator, basic obedience training, and (much) more. So you're never flying solo in this pet parenting thing.
I found a new home! Plenty of my friends are looking for one too. Check out other pets at this shelter, or start a new search.

Here's what the humans have to say about me:
In Greek, my name means, “Defender of the People.” And no better title could have been bestowed upon me. I perform my duties all around my homeland with dedication, loyalty, and a shrill bark that warns all that I am willing to die in the defense of my family and loved ones. Please let it be known, I am truly a gentle little man with only affection in my heart for all who love and respect me. But let anyone attempt to impose on my good nature (like Henry, the greedy Terrier who faces off with me daily in my foster home) and I will chew them most heartily with my nearly-toothless mouth. I am Xander, a purebred red MinPin, Defender of the People, the Man Who Would Be King (if only I weren’t a 10-lb. senior with failing vision, battling indifference and arthritis).
In my younger days, I was my Fair Damsel’s true knight. I watched over her and she in turn, showered me with all her attention and kindly affections. When she met her Man, we became Family. I and the Man became comrades of the recliner and together we leash-walked our realm and shared our dreams for future conquests.
But then, a Child was born. And my position in the castle was reduced by necessity to a level I could no longer tolerate. The Child’s needs became paramount, and although my mind understood, my soul cried out for a time when I could again enjoy the authority I once held. I decided on a plan of civil disobedience, refusing to eat, until I nearly died.
The Damsel rightly chose the Child over me, and the Man departed to fight battles of his own, where I could not join in. So now, I remain 12-year-old Xander: microchipped, neutered, vaccinated, housebroken, and longing for a new Damsel, a new Man, or a new Family who will treasure me as once I was.
Could an old soldier like myself find a space on your lap, a place under your table, a spot in your heart? A small, soft pillow is all I ask for a future that I shall dedicate to you. I am Xander, and I remain at your service. 518-727-8591
