My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Update as of February 26, 2013, I received an email from Save A Lab Rescue that Katherine has been adopted!!!!

Katherine is a female Black Lab mix who is approximately 1 1/2 years old and weighs around 49lbs. She was on death row at an animal control and became a celebrity when featured in the Examiner News in efforts to save her life.

Katherine's story was published in the Examiner News:
http://www.examiner.com/article/meet-katherine-a-death-row-dog-who-needs-a-rescuer-by-thursday

Katherine was scheduled to be put to sleep on Friday, February 1, 2013.

Save A Lab Rescue (http://www.savealabnc.com/index.html) committed to take her under their rescue. She was scheduled to be picked up and fostered at Stray Haven on Feb 1, 2013, until transport to her permanent foster.

Animal control received a call from an individual claiming Katherine may be their family dog so Katherine's stay at animal control was extended until the family could go there to identify her. Animal control waited several days for the family to claim Katherine and no one showed up.

On February 5, 2013, Katherine was picked up from Animal Control by Bev Menier at Stray Haven. She is scheduled for vetting and will be transported to her permanent foster with Save A Lab Rescue until she is adopted.

Katherine appreciates attention from humans and loves hanging out with her canine friends ranging in age from six months old up to 13 years old and ranging in size from 10 lbs up to 60 lbs. Katherine is exposed to a variety of breeds such as Beagles, Walker Hounds, Black Labs, Yellow Labs, a Senior Roti mix and Pit Bulls. Katherine has done well with house training since her arrival here at Stray Haven. Katherine is spayed, heartworm negative and up to date with vaccines.

The individual who took her to animal control said Katherine was hanging around his house. He stated that she got along fine with adults, children, dogs and cats. As I stated early, she does need more evaluation with the cats which will take place soon.

Katherine is a beautiful Black Lab who will make a nice addition to a family. If you are interested in adopting Katherine please contact Save A Lab Rescue at: http://www.savealabnc.com/index.html

Thanks for caring about Katherine and Have a nice day, Bev :)
