Here's what the humans have to say about me:
Minnie Pearl is an approximately 4 to 5 year old orange roan brittany who has fallen on hard times. We picked her up from a shelter in Onslow County near Jacksonville, NC. She has been vet checked, has had all her shots, is heart worm negative and on monthly prevention, been wormed and will be spayed as of August 21st. Minnie is a very delightful little brittany who currently weighs 29.5 lbs. but needs to gain about another 5 to 10 lbs to really look good. You can see from her pictures that she is very skinny right now and her coat is very rough but I know from experience that with good food and care she will be a beautiful girl in a few months. Minnie does not seem to be bothered by cats. Several trips to the vets where cats are loose causes her no concern. She does test fences and will do everything to try and get out so she will have to be walked for her much needed exercise. Fortunately if she does get out and knows where home is, she will come home eventually. She comes when call IF she wants to! She loves affection and is always right there next to you when inside wanting all the petting you are willing to give to her. She has had no accidents in the house BUT cannot be left alone without being in a crate when you go away. Minnie has currently adopted my husband as her best mate and will run around to every reachable window trying to keep him in sight when he is out in the yard. Once she realizes someone else is in the house she does settle down some, but still needs to be watched. Eventually she quiets and just stays with whoever is inside with her. Having other dogs quietly laying around does not calm her that much. She gets along great with the rest of the pack but I think prefers being with people. She will sit most of the time on command and walks ok on a leash. She will need additional obedience training. She sometimes fusses a little when first put in the crate at night for bedtime but pretty quickly calms down. I believe the longer she is with someone and on a pretty regular routine the calmer and more secure she will feel in a new home. Minnie will be a wonderful companion for a family or couple who like to take long walks and/or jogs. She loves a good run and will be a great running companion once she gets into a routine of running along side someone. I believe that in the long term Minnie is going to make an absolutely wonderful companion for any family. She just needs a lot of patience and a feeling of security to calm her down.
Minnie is spayed and ready to go. She has also settled down quite a bit and no longer "panics" when the person of her "choice" goes out and leaves her inside with another person. I still would not leave her loose alone in the house without someone being there. She is a very loving little girl and will sit for hours as long as someone is willing to pet her. The longer she is with us the more steady and secure she is in her surroundings. This really is a nice little dog. Does not rush the door when it is open even though she would love to get out and have a good run. She is getting use to being on a leash all the time and enjoys long walks. Don't let her skinny pictures fool you, she will be a beautiful little dog once she gains some more weight. She is always there with you where ever you go in the house. A great companion.
