My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

TARYN - SHELTIE/BORDER COLLIE X, SPAYED FEMALE, 38 LBS, APPROX 8 MONTHS, BLACK AND CREAM/TAN COAT

Taryn is currently fostered in Vancouver and here's an update after a few days in her foster home:

Taryn is a very lovely sheltie/border collie X, but don’t let her breeds fool you, she has a calm disposition and is a very easy girl. Taryn is shy but does not hesitate to lean on you for support or guidance. She walks well on leash, but will even lean into you on the walk for guidance or comfort. Once she is comfortable and into the groove of the walk she will walk in a perfect heel. As her confidence grows, she will not feel the need to “lean in” on the walks. Taryn loves the snow and she went for a long walk with Tina (our pittie) and I to Central Park. Taryn has great recall, always checks in with you and comes running when called. She was so happy when called her that she would come running happily and jump up on me to say “I am so happy you called me!!!”. Given it was the first time I had her off leash and I wanted her to come to me, (and I didn’t have treats with me, either) I turned it into a game. She is so starved to give her affection I am encouraging it any way I can. She is a very obedient girl, good with other dogs and learning to be more relaxed (not retreat) with bigger dogs in daycare, and my guess is that she would be awesome with kids.

Taryn would make a great agility dog, and would like to spend time hiking out doors, too. She likes to curl up at your feet while you watch a movie or work at your computer, and although she did not like to have a bath, she succumbed to it with one small tug on the slip collar, and let me bathe her. The end result was worth it, because she now has a beautiful sleek and shiny coat, soft and lovely to pet.

Although there have been a few times Taryn has whined for a few minutes when left on her own (with another dog), she is getting used to being on her own for periods of time and is quieting down quickly, particularly as she gets used to our routine. Taryn has not displayed any destructive behaviours, and is food and affection motivated. Photos do not do her justice. She is as pretty as she is sweet, as affectionate as she is obedient. She will make someone a very lucky, proud and happy family!

Pets can be flown to new homes. Application and homecheck required for all homes, the dog will go to the best home for the dog.
