Here's what the humans have to say about me:
Dear Potential Adopter,
My name is Lyra, a 2-3 year old boxer mix. I am spayed, current on all vaccinations, and heart worm tested negative. I was recently seized during an animal cruelty investigation case, and well, thank god I ended up at where I did! I have been treated so well, fed every day with fresh water, toys and lots of friends. However, like my human counter parts, there are just some dogs I can not get along with. I apologize, it must be my chemistry that doesn't mesh well. At any rate, I totally dig squeaky duck toys, treats, and most of all the touch of a human hand. The staff at the shelter have been very good with me, and know how much humans mean to me. Forget the cats, all I want is a human companion to love me and take me out to play, run and go on road trips. I am house broken but may need a little reminder where the door is when I get to my new home. Though I am a larger breed dog, please consider that I do like to jump up humans every now and again - I am not out to hurt anyone, but if you have a small human living with you it may be a good idea to find a smaller dog. I prefer to be the only dog in the home, I am just to spoiled that way. I know, I know, sounds selfish, but the staff tell me they think it would be best as well. The staff also apologizes to me for having to keep me here since October 30, 2012, but in order for me to become free and available for adoption, they had to follow the rules. I am not worried, I am still ready for my forever home as I was before. No more chained up in a steep stair well with no food, water, fresh air or a place to relive myself. Please, I am asking for you to help me, I need a home that will love me, play and run with me.
Please pick me - Love,
Lyra
