Here's what the humans have to say about me:
This precious little boy was saved literally minutes before euthanasia at a pound. Unfortunately, he had been found in a field and taken to an animal control facility that has very little foot traffic, so he was never seen by potential adopters before his time was almost up. He was covered in fleas and ticks, shaking from fear, cowering in a corner in a very loud and scary shelter environment.
One of our volunteers scooped him up and took him to safety as a Homes For Pets foster dog. After some TLC, he bonded with the foster home's pack and has learned to trust and come out of his shell. He still is very unsure and timid with a tucked tail in new situations with strangers. Gentle patience and encouragement will help him gain confidence. Dalton's BFF is a 65-lb. foster brother - they love to wrestle together! Having another dog to play with will help him feel more secure.
Dalton is very unique looking with soft red and white fur, and one brown eye and one blue eye (which could come from any number of breeds). He vocalizes like a husky sometimes, but looks more collie, maybe with a splash of terrier in his small floppy ears. He only weighs about 28 lbs. He has some scarring on his back leg, possibly from some kind of rope or wire, where the hair may never grow back. He is still very puppy and is learning what he is allowed to chew on.
Dalton loves toys, is housebroken and crate-trained, UTD on vaccinations, neutered, microchipped, dewormed, heartworm negative and started on monthly prevention. His adoption fee is $115.
He is learning basic commands in obedience class and proving to be very smart and motivated to learn and please. Dalton is a good little boy with a long life of love ahead of him to share! He has the sweetest disposition and is in search of his forever family. Let us know if you’d like the privilege of applying for the position!
