Here's what the humans have to say about me:
Even though I am past the age where I will be noticed for my stunning looks, petite physique, or silly antics, I can instead offer all the very best qualities that come with maturity. I am a very laid back senior girl, and I am very well behaved and loving to everyone I meet. I welcome all other dogs, cats, and people into my life with no reservations!
I came to Midwest BREW several months ago from a rural animal control facility where I was found as a stray, so there is little recorded history on me, but my body tells a few things about me. I had puppies not long before I was at animal control, but I am spayed now. I have patches of fur loss and skin thickening over many of my joints and surface contact points on my body. These scars are symmetrical on my body and have not changed during my months in foster care, so it is likely that I spent lots of time on outdoor hard surfaces, such as a dog house or concrete dog kennel. I am estimated at 10 years old, and I am a larger sized beagle (about 33 pounds), but I am on the slender side and could stand to gain some more weight.
I am friendly and loving with my foster family when they give me attention, but I tend to keep to myself and am still learning to ask for attention. I am calm and gentle with children I have met briefly, so I will likely do fine with children who visit occasionally. However, I am not playful enough to be much fun for resident children, and I prefer a quieter day to day atmosphere without all the commotion of active children and their friends.
I spend most of my time lounging on a dog bed and sometimes I like to chew on bones. I stay in a crate when I am home alone and I am perfectly quiet and comfortable there. Being in a crate has helped me have almost no potty accidents in my foster home, and I also go outside in the yard a lot, so that has helped too. When the weather is warm, I LOVE to roam in the fenced yard and bay at all the scents! That is one of my favorite things to do and I will stay outside for hours when the weather is nice and my foster family is home with me. A fenced yard would be the best thing in the world for me to keep up with my recreational scenting and stay on track with house training.
My foster family says that it can take a little while to get to know me, but that's because I am so content with the simple pleasures in life that I just don't ask for much and I would never dream of complaining. All I need to be happy for the rest of my life is a comfy place to sleep, a yard to sniff in, yummy food, and people who are gentle to me, and in return I promise to be a calm and faithful companion always.
