Here's what the humans have to say about me:
Roxy is an 18 month old female JRT. She was very badly neglected then brought to the clinic where I work to be put to sleep. She was nearly starved to death, covered in fleas, and judging from the horrible urine stains on her legs, chest, and rear spent most of her time locked in a small area. The clinic saved her and thought they could place her but, Roxy has some issues with other dogs. I brought her home with me for the weekend to try to evaluate her a bit more. She has been in a cage in boarding for about 3 weeks which hasn't helped her at all. She needs exercise and training! Anyway, she is fine around my dogs as long as the dogs are calm and the situation is calm. If she gets excited or over stimulated she will turn on the other dogs. It's like she just doesn't know how to control herself. And, I think for the past few weeks in boarding at the clinic her only stimulation has come from cage fighting with the other dogs so, now when she gets wound up that's what she does...fights. She is completely wonderful with people. She turns into a wiggly mess when she sees a person and does not know a stranger! She has not had any accidents in her crate this weekend. She has not been allowed to run around my house because I have 11 other dogs and a cat (she is NOT good with cats!) so, I'm not sure about her housebreaking skills. She is very small only about 8 lbs. She is about the cutest JRT I have ever seen. I have spent a lot of time walking her this weekend and she LOVES to go for walks!!! She is so full of life and curious about everything! Her little tail wags a million miles a minute! Everyone who sees her stops to love on her and always remark about how cute she is.
Next week our kennel will be full with boarding dogs so, the clinic is planning to put her to sleep. They do not think they can find her a home with her issues with other animals. It is breaking my heart because Roxy is such a great little dog...other then her animal issues. She is soooo stinking adorable! She just needs a home with no other animals or an experienced trainer/terrier person who can work with her. I know it's a very long shot but, if you have any ideas please let me know. I don't have a lot of time to work on her. I'm sorry. I had no idea they were planning to put her to sleep until Friday which when I asked to take her for the weekend and just see what her issues were. She is current on shots and heartworm negative.
Roxy is in the Little Rock, AR area but, I can arrange transport if needed. Like I said, I know it's a very long shot to find anyone who can help her but, it can't hurt to try. She would be the best little companion for the right home.
