My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Raleigh NC

Layla was rescued back in the summer by another rescue group pregnant with pups. Her pups were born, weaned, and adopted out and still no home came for Layla. They asked us to take her and find her a forever home. We were very happy to be able to help out Layla as we love the forgotten mama dogs and she is a lovely sweet girl. Layla is a mature adult female American Staffordshire Terrier. She's good in the house and great with people of all sizes. She can be a bit to manage with small furries so homes without cats and other small animals would be best. She does have drive to chase squirrels and has killed an opossum while in foster care (it;s not hard to kill those and we're thankful it wasnt a skunk).

She has a lovely feminine head, it's on the terrier side of shape which just means she doesnt have a big square block. It’s shaped nice with a slim face and almond shaped eyes. The slim blaze down the middle gives her face the appearance of a slightly longer muzzle. Shes a really lovely dainty looking gal. She;s medium sized with a professional crop job and is a medium blue in color with white accents.

She is crate trained and house broken.  She's social with other dogs and is in foster care with other dogs and being acclimated to living with cats. If she were adopted into a home with a cat, it would have to be an experienced home willing to manage them and separate them when they werent at home. She’s not 100% trustworthy with felines, with time and training she could be fine. Because of this, we would only consider homes without cats (long discussion if you are experienced and feel you must try this) and dogs that are larger than she. She has prey drive which requires management and we find that most owners don't understand this or know how to work around it.

She does not appear to have any food allergies or environmental allergies that can be common in the blue colored bully breeds. She's fully vaccinated, spayed, tested negative for heartworms and microchipped.

Please keep in mind that we are a foster based rescue only. There is no facility where these dogs can be visited prior to application approval as they are all in private homes. This is for both the safety of our foster homes and our dogs. Please take a minute to fill out the adoption application if you are interested in one of our dogs. We also do not place our pit bulls in homes with dogs of the same gender. We adopt as single dogs or to homes with dogs of the opposite gender only. We appreciate breed experience.
