My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

We found this beautiful one-yr-old, 40 lbs Jindo mix pup on a Saturday afternoon when checking the shelter cages for new arrivals. We stopped to look at another dog when we heard these cute noises coming from the next cage. We first heard snoring and then whimpering coming probably from a puppy and couldn't help but to look at the dog in the next cage. It was a very young dog, still a puppy we thought -- dreaming. As we stood in front of his cage, we noticed his kennel card: he had been at the shelter for about a week which means that unless he got adopted in the next couple of days, he would be euthanized very soon. As we watched him, we wondered what he was dreaming about? Was he dreaming of catching rabbits... or maybe about the home he used to have and lost? Could he count? And if he did, would he know he didn't have much time left?

Statuesque and drop-dead gorgeous despite his very sad eyes -- Sunny is cream and white in color, has a pink nose and amber eyes. We wondered how long he had been on the street, trying to survive... looking for some food to eat, and obviously not very successful because he was very skinny and probably had to compete with stronger and more street-wise strays. His kennel card says his name is "Sol" (Sun in Spanish) and we call him "Sunny" which suits him well.

We promised Sunny we would be back for him, and we did. But unfortunately we weren't able to find a foster home for him so he is being boarded at a kennel in the Hudson Valley.

Sunny needs a quiet environment in an adult home without other pets where he would feel safe with a dog savvy person who will let him warm up at his own pace while simultaneously working on building up his confidence. Sunny responds very well to good pack leadership and positive reinforcement. Sunny needs an owner to show him that life is beautiful when you have people around you that love and care about you -- and Sunny's eyes will never be sad again.
