Here's what the humans have to say about me:
Helen had been a stray that was never claimed. She got lucky because just as we were arranging the transport of another dog from the County shelter, Helen’s city shelter called us and asked if we could take her. We really had no space for her but how could we resist this face?
All it takes is one look at her picture and you can tell how this dog got her name. She is a beautiful doxie with long ears and sleek, shiny coat. She also has a commanding personality. Helen arrived at her foster home late at night. She had started the day being transferred from one shelter to another for pickup. Then she was transported to SF for the afternoon. From there she went to the East bay and a stop to pick up additional dogs at the vets. When she finally got to her destination after 8 hours of traveling, it was chaos with five new dogs arriving at once. Helen acted like she was out for a walk in the park. She was calm, wagged her tail at all the people and ignored the swarms of dogs trying to check out the new girl.
Helen is nice, easy dachshund. She crates without complaint. She eats her food but is not obsessed with it. She is great with other dachshunds and with all people.
Helen is a low to the ground dachshund so this girl should have no stairs in her new home. She would enjoy a dachshund brother or two if her owner has to be away during the day.
Helen is spayed, micro chipped and current on her vaccinations. She has recovered from the kennel cough she caught while at the shelter.
If you are interested in Helen, please fill out an adoption application and email Lindy at linla@comcast.net.
The tax deductible donation for Helen is $275
