Here's what the humans have to say about me:
Monty is our charming senior and slight “Special Needs” dog who anyone would be lucky to have in their home. He is a 10 lb, 12-13 yr old Shih Tzu terrier mix. He was rescued from a high kill city shelter where he sat for almost 2 months looking like an old mop. When we took him into our group, he was in such poor condition, desperately needed dental work, a vet-check along with seeing a good "hairdresser."
From the vet check-up we did learn that his kidney levels were high and he has a medium grade heart murmur. He was put on medication right away and a special diet for his kidneys. Since the dental work-up, being on his diet and a hairdo makeover, he is like a new dog!! It's amazing what love, care, good quality food, along with a grooming can do. He now interacts with life, has spurts of running around in a playful manner, adores going for walks and has a great appetite.
He has a new vigor, zest and love of life. His Foster Mom reports that he is not a barker. When he is not having a walk or a run around the house, he is content to curl up on his dog bed. Won't you open up your home and your heart to this sweet senior?
If you are interested in Monty, please complete the on-line application as he does not always attend the weekly adopt event on Saturdays at PETCO. You can also contact us for more information at: www.adoptmerescue@gmail.org.
