Here's what the humans have to say about me:
Miyuki (me-you-key), which means "beautiful morning" in Japanese, is a pure bred Cream female Shiba Inu that came to us after being a puppy mill breeder for the first 9 years of her life. She also came to us with a mammary tumor, luckily benign, and bilateral inguinal intestinal hernias, which have been repaired. She is now more than ready for a forever home.
While older, don't let Miyuki's age fool you! She apparently knows she has lots of years to make up for! She is a very active energetic girl who honestly acts more like a young 6 month old puppy than an adult dog, much less a senior!
Miyuki is already doing well with potty training and crate training. She goes to the door and scratches to go out and is learning to walk into her crate for food. When first in rescue she barked quite a lot in her crate but is vastly improving but not sure if she'd be good in an apartment. She needs a 6 foot all wood privacy fence with no holes as she is quite the clever escape artist, especially in a new home as the change makes her quite anxious. This behavior may go away with time but for now she is on a tie-out when outside in the director's yard. She is getting used to the routine quite well and does her business, explores around then relaxes in the sun or shade.
Miyuki is active and playful in the house. She can pace at first so she is given a pig's ear, her favorite, when she comes inside to help ease her nerves and energy. She walks well on a leash and would be a great running partner for someone.
Miyuki is great with other dogs. While she doesn't play direclty with them yet she tolerates even multiple puppies jumping around her. She is good with cats and also good with the director's young toddler, even lets her walk her around.
Miyuki's adoption fee is $175.00 which includes her spay, mammary tumor removal, hernia repair, deworming, microchip, and distemper and rabies vaccinates. While she does not come with a training class in her fee we highly recommend she get one due to her young spunky nature.
