My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Akane (ah-kah-nAy), which means "deep red" in Japanese, is a 11-12 year old pure bred Red female Shiba Inu that came to us after spending the majority of her life as a puppy mill breeder to produce puppies for pet stores.

Akane is good with other dogs, cats and even curiously follows my young daughter around sniffing her. She is shy with people but sweet and needs a quiet home that can let her come out of her shell at her own pace. She is good in her crate and is good about going outside to do her business but she has a very sensitive stomach. She is currently doing well on Innova Senior but switching her or giving too many treats can lead to very loose stools or even diarrhea.

Akane is good with chain link fencing and will not try to esape but we do not recommend an apartment as she is cautious about walking on a leash. She is also currently using a doggie door in her foster home.

Akane's adoption fee is $50.00. She has been spayed, given a surgical dental, dewormed, vaccinated for distemper and has a microchip.
