Here's what the humans have to say about me:
Keihi Kuma (kay-hee koo-mah), which means "cinnamon bear" in Japanese, is a 5-6 year old pure bred Sesame female Shiba Inu that came to us after being left in the overnight drop bin at Aurora Animal Shelter with what we believe is her breeding mate and two of her pups from a previous litter. Being what we believe was a backyard breeding dog, Keihi is shy and learning how to live life in a home as a real dog, a pet, a companion, rather than just producing cute little puppies in a kennel. She will take a patient owner that can let her come out of her shell in her own time.
Keihi currently has attached herself to her foster mom and follows her from room to room. She definitely prefers women to men and would do best in a home without children as they may scare her. Keihi enjoys the company of other calm dogs but playful or rowdy dogs tend to scare her. She is learning to play with toys and is learning what she can and can't chew on so make sure you keep things picked up you don't want her putting in her mouth.
Keihi is doing great with potty training and does spend time in her crate as her safe spot. She is fed in her crate to keep it a positive place to be. She does fine with chain link fencing and doesn't make any attempts to escape but is still learning to walk on a leash so no apartments. She is also afraid of stairs so she needs a home that can set her up on one level.
Keihi's adoption fee is $275.00 which includes her spay, dental, microchip, deworming, distemper vaccination and a professional training course.
