Here's what the humans have to say about me:
Makoto (mah-kO-tO), which means "sincerity" in Japanese, was found as a stray in Colorado Springs in late October. He is a pure bred Cream male, estimated to be around 2 years old.
Makoto is great with people, kids, cats and other dogs--currently he's fostered with 6 others of all sizes! He loves to play with toys but does have a little possesive aggression with his toys and will freeze and is wary of you taking them during play but having multiple toys to trade him with really improves the situation. Because of this he may do best with slightly older children but he has been fostered with a 3 year old and did fine with her. A recommended book for Makoto would be "Mine" to understand any possessive behavior and to modify it correctly with positive reinforcement, NOT punishment based methods which will make the situation worse.
He is great with potty training and can be trusted with chain link fencing without trying to escape. He is also crate trained and will go right in for his meal. He originally would cry in his crate but he has greatly improved so he may be a possible apartment candidate but understand in a new environment he may digress at first. We would recommend that Makoto be crated in his new home when no one is home and when you are sleeping as he is still a young dog and needs consistency and still could potentially get bored if no one is watching him and get into trouble. Makoto is the kind of dog that can be active when you want him to be or can lounge by your feet when you're at the computer or watching TV.
Makoto's adoption fee is $350.00 which includes his neuter, distemper vaccination, deworming, microchip and a training class.
