Here's what the humans have to say about me:
Heinz, a two-year-old black and tan smooth dachshund, came from an area animal shelter where he was "dumped" by a woman along with two other small breed dogs. Luckily, he was in overall good health, and had been neutered prior to coming to the shelter. He was brought up to date on his immunizations by the shelter, and had his teeth cleaned and was microchipped by our rescue veterinarians. Heinz was very thin when he came, but like most dachshunds, has a wonderful appetite so is quickly filling out now that he is eating a premium dog food.
Heinz, once he gains needed weight, will probably be about 14 to 15 pounds. Initially, he was quiet and somewhat reserved. Now that he has settled into his foster home, he is quite lively and plays with toys and with his foster dog siblings. He definitely barks when he hears anything that alerts him, and like many dachshunds, he must be reminded to be quiet and stop barking when the object of his attention has vanished. He is loving and friendly and will make a fine companion for someone!
Can you give Heinz a loving, permanent home with lots of attention?
