Here's what the humans have to say about me:
We were contacted by Andrea, a Westlake resident who had been trying to catch a dog in her neighborhood for 4 days. Our SAR Team responded almost immediately to assess the situation. It turns out the dog had actually been in the neighborhood for over 30 days from what we were told by other neighbors. She was extremely emaciated and scared. Our first night out there trying to trap her did not work. She left the area and hid for the night. After being out there for over 9 hours our SAR Team headed home for the night. They returned back the next morning at 5 am, and 38 Degrees outside! BURRR!!!! They set and baited the trap again and just waited. Very shortly after she appeared again and they slowly lured her towards where the trap was set. After a couple hours she finally made her way into the trap and was caught!!! She was scared and shy but was very sweet and loved to be rubbed and pet. She was starving for food and human affection. We found out from the residents that she had been roaming with another male, most likely her brother but he was picked up by animal control a few days prior. We rushed her over to our Vets office at Park Animal Hosiptal and Dr. Hannah got us in right away. She was cold, shaking, and every bone in her body was showing. We ran blood tests and they came out normal. She is on a 5 times a day meal plan and needs to gain back her weight, but other than that she is in pretty good health! Dr. Hannah did discover though that she had recently had puppies.. She still had a little bit of milk coming out. Which meant she may have puppies out in the area we found her in. We got her some food and water and headed back out with her hoping she could lead us to where her puppies were. Unfortunately she was not much help and our team searched the area for over 7 hours that day, and then a few hours again the next day. We took Hope to a wonderful foster home where she will get tons of love, food and rest.. Exactly what she needs and deserves! The foster family named her HOPE which fits her perfectly. She is the definition of Hope and Survival. She is s VERY sweet girl who is now looking for her forever home! It is very sad to think that her and her brother were abandoned and left to fend for themselves. She could have died out there. We are very thankful for Andrea who knew to contact us, and for our wonderful SAR Team that puts their personal lives aside 100% to go out there and save lives.
Hope is about 1 Year Old, Great with other Dogs, Cats and Kids!!
